I’m considering switching over to Habari from Wordpress. One thing holding me back is the complexity that is involved. Reading through the how-to and various tutorials is slow going and, to me at least, the learning curve seems pretty steep. But maybe I’m just too used to that wonderful 5-minute install on Wordpress?
Anybody else moved from Wordpress to Habari or another alternative blogging platform?

Installing Habari is actually easier than WordPress as there is no need to edit the config files.
I think Habari is great and I recommend it in general, but I think you need to do you research and try it out on a local installation before moving your whole blog.
WordPress handles a lot of things that Habari doesn’t do. There are various reasons for this such as the different philosophies, but depending on your knowledge and experience you might feel restrained by it.
I moved my WP blog to Habari in February. The installation is as simple as WP. Set up mySQL DB, enter credentials. Done.
Habari also has a pretty robust and fast WordPress importer. I imported 700 posts and 1000 comments in < 2 mins.
Also, Habari has a very helpful and knowledgable community only to willing and eager to welcome and help out any newcomers.
So what’s stopping you ?
We’d love for you to give Habari a try. Right now the most difficult thing (in my opinion) is grabbing the plugins and themes to make Habari exactly what you want because we haven’t (yet) gotten our plugin and themes repositories to be as user-friendly as we’d like them.
There’s tons of support out there though. If you use twitter, just mention Habari in a tweet. Also the IRC channel on freenode (#habari) is very active. If you try it and find things we can improve, we’d love to know about it.
Its a shame that I never heard about habari!! hmm!! to be or not to be is the question!!! I will surely try out! How is the plugins support for this one?
